About Team Lousers

Lou Whitney is our inspiration for Team_Lousers. Sadly, Lou suffered a basilar artery stroke in January 2019, which left him with ‘Locked-in Syndrome.’

Once in acute rehab, the department psychologist, Dr Angela Riccobono, PhD in addition to ARC Director, Dr David Putrino, PhD and Lou’s family members had a group text going. At one point, David labeled our texting thread “Lousers” for organization in his phone. Hence, Team Lousers was born. Angela and David were and are a tour de force duo.

Our mission is to empower, educate and support stroke survivors & family caregivers, while they recover, reclaim and rebuild their lives by focusing on optimizing their quality of life, socializing and advocating
